What are the symptoms of an infected person?
- A team of experts including experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) has published a report on this issue. The team conducted a detailed analysis of the symptoms of 55,924 cases in China as of February 20.
- According to the report, 87.9% of patients had a fever, 67.7% had a cough, 38.1% had fatigue and 33.4% had phlegm. Other symptoms include shortness of breath, sore throat and headache.
- On average, people infected with the virus usually have symptoms for about 5 to 6 days.

- About 80% of people infected with the virus have relatively mild symptoms. Some people do not turn into pneumonia. Among the virus-infected patients, 13.8% experienced severe changes and shortness of breath.
- The likelihood of serious or fatal symptoms is higher in people over the age of 60 or with underlying medical conditions such as hypertension, obesity, cardiovascular, respiratory or cancer. Children are the group with almost no reported cases or severe changes. Only 2.4% of the cases were people under 18 years of age.
- Dr. Kutsuna Satoshi of the National Center for Global Health and Health has treated the virus-positive patients in Japan. He said the patients had symptoms of runny nose, sore throat and cough. According to the doctor, these patients all have symptoms of fatigue and fever above 37 degrees in about 1 week.
- Dr. Kutsuna said some people will have a higher fever after 1 week. According to him, this symptom usually lasts longer than the same symptoms in cases of seasonal influenza or other viral infections.
